Junk removal services in Westchester County
A million people. A lot of stuff.
Westchester County is home to about 1,004,000 people (2020 census) across 6 cities, 19 towns and 23 villages, from Yonkers at the Bronx line north to the Putnam County border. White Plains is the county seat.
We’re based in Yonkers and work in the southern part of the county, where housing runs from high-rise apartments in Yonkers, New Rochelle and White Plains to the historic homes of Bronxville and the hillside houses of the river villages. Each city and village has its own sanitation rules, and our town pages explain how each one’s bulk pickup compares to calling a crew.
Find your town below, or call and tell us what needs to go. Junk removal is priced by truck load; see the four sizes.

Moving in and out of Westchester County
Local moves around southern Westchester.
Local moves in Westchester often cross municipal lines: an apartment in Yonkers to a house in Eastchester, or a Scarsdale home to a smaller place in White Plains. Different buildings, different rules, and sometimes a different sanitation department for whatever gets left behind.
Moving trucks aren't allowed on the county's parkways, including the Bronx River, Hutchinson River, Saw Mill River and Sprain Brook parkways, so we plan routes on the Thruway, I-287, I-95 and local roads.
Check both buildings
Moving between buildings? Get the move rules from both: allowed hours, elevator reservations and any insurance paperwork.

Bulk pickup differs from one city or village to the next. Check your town's page here before you put anything at the curb.
Drop off hazardous items
Paint, household chemicals and similar items go to the county's recovery facility in Valhalla, by appointment.
Westchester County recycling & hazardous waste drop-off
What the county takes, and when to call a crew.
Westchester County runs the Household Material Recovery Facility (H-MRF) in Valhalla for household hazardous waste and electronics. Here's how it works, according to the county.
What Westchester County handles
- The H-MRF is at 15 Woods Road, Valhalla, and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., by appointment only.
- Appointments are made through the county's Recycling Helpline.
- It accepts household chemicals, electronic waste such as computers and TVs, rechargeable batteries and fluorescent bulbs from residents.
- The county also holds one-day Household Recycling Day events at different locations.

When calling a crew makes more sense
- You have furniture, mattresses or general clutter, which the H-MRF isn't for.
- You'd rather not drive old electronics to Valhalla and back.
- You need a whole room or house cleared, not a single drop-off.

Westchester County junk removal & moving FAQs
County-wide questions, answered.
Which parts of Westchester County do you serve?
We're based in Yonkers and serve southern Westchester, including Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Bronxville, Tuckahoe, Eastchester, Scarsdale, Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry and White Plains. If your town isn't on the list, call and ask.
Where do I take household hazardous waste in Westchester?
Westchester County's Household Material Recovery Facility at 15 Woods Road in Valhalla takes household chemicals, electronics, rechargeable batteries and fluorescent bulbs from residents, by appointment, Tuesday through Saturday. Book through the county's Recycling Helpline. It's for drop-offs, not furniture or general junk.
Is bulk pickup the same in every Westchester town?
No. Each city and village sets its own rules. Mount Vernon caps free bulk pickup at 200 pounds a week, Hastings-on-Hudson needs appointments only for metal items, and Scarsdale collects by route on Thursdays or Fridays. Check your town's page here for a summary and a link to the official rules.
Can a moving truck use Westchester's parkways?
No. Commercial vehicles, including moving trucks, aren't allowed on the county's parkways, such as the Bronx River, Hutchinson River, Saw Mill River and Sprain Brook. We plan routes on the Thruway, I-287, I-95 and local roads, which is one reason we ask for exact addresses.
How do I get a quote anywhere in Westchester?
Call us with your town, what needs to go or be moved, and which floor it's on. Photos help. Junk removal is priced by how much of the truck your items fill, and you'll have a clear price before any work starts.
